Week #13: Ignoring the rest
My week started on the couch. I forced a day of reset after a few weeks of travel.
Rested, I went back to a venue in town where I had played just three days prior. The staff that recognized me had deja vu in their eyes.
I was there to see a friend's band, who my partner and I have both gotten enamored by. There’s a line in one of their songs that I’ve sung along to dozens of times to at home, but that live, hit me harder.
"You can do anything you want, but you can't do it all."
Fuck.
I am home for the next three months and I want to start a video series, keep promoting the band and organizing our business infrastructure, begin promoting the next tour, continue writing two stories I've started, pick up my songwriting, publish a story I completed months ago, keep submitting to literary magazines, and go home to visit my parents.
I've been down this road before. It leads nowhere.
So I chose the most urgent. The ones from which all momentum comes from: experimenting, creating, iterating.
Here's how I spent my week:
Writing: 9h 30m
Writing Research / Video Series: 3h 30m
Playing Music: 3h 30m
Music Admin: 7h 30m
